We have a new range of coffees up on our merch shelf from our friends @doeandfawncoffee

We still carry the Colombian Tolima, which we use for all our drinks you enjoy in the cafe, plus the Brazilian Suaza which is our house decaf - both available on the shelf.

In addition we have another couple of popular Brazilians - Fazenda Pinhal and Pocos de Caldas.

Along with a great tasting Ethiopian for espresso or filter - Aba Nura.

Rounding out the selection we have the Doe & Fawn signature Grainstores blend of Brazil & Peru; named after their roastery HQ in Aspley Guise. Plus a unique coffee you might not see locally, a Colombian Half Caf (that's right), less caffeine without it being considered a decaf coffee.

Available as wholebean or ground to your brew method of choice.

Drink coffee.

If I could offer only one tip for the future, coffee would be it. The long term benefits of coffee have been proved by scientists. Whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience; I will dispense this advice now.

When we first opened Bogota we would really worry about putting up prices, catastrophising about customers getting upset, thinking us greedy and never coming back; we often put it off too long to our own detriment as a business. When we did raise them, even by as little as 5p, we put out signs apologising and saying sorry every time we served someone. I remember I said to a customer once, ‘Sorry, we had to raise our prices slightly.’ He replied, ‘And?’ Listen to your customers, they carry with them much insight.

From this morning our prices will be slightly higher. That being said, we are still in line with or cheaper than our local chains. We mention it because on this occasion it’s a bigger jump than usual and we’re not a faceless corp, making decisions and leaving it to others to explain if asked, we’re the people you see in the shop. Why the rise? More of what you’ve no doubt already heard - increased costs across the board to us as a business. And we’re obviously not the only ones. We use a whole host of independent, mostly family-run businesses all facing the same rises, which will have a knock-on and so on. It’s how the ecosystem works, of which both you and us are a part. And we very much thank you for being the biggest part of our own ecosystem.

So to close, some more appropriated advice:

Accept certain inalienable truths. Prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old.

But trust me on the coffee.

Okay, so we're actually on Leighton Road but back in the 1800s this part of town was Canal Street; plus we're on a wharf with water running under us, so, close enough. From our 1930s art deco building we hope you'll agree that Canal St. Coffee brings something unique to our eclectic little market town.
